For 27 years, Madeleine Muñoz was a successful entrepreneur in the sewing industry, with a clothing factory that employed 19 people and sold her creations, under the Amarilis brand, to two major store chains, as well as recognized boutiques in the metropolitan area. Everything was going so well that, in 2005, she moved her operations to a new building in Puerto Nuevo, purchased with the idea of continuing to grow. But six months later, her two main clients stopped buying clothes in Puerto Rico. "We were left without work and with a newly purchased building," recalls the entrepreneur, who points out that the economic crisis of those years thwarted her idea of selling clothes retail, and she decided to close the factory to seek other business alternatives.
